CBRC Physical Rehab Spring Opener

Corner Brook Running Club season opener is a 5-km race in Massey Drive Sunday May 4th.

 

The Corner Brook Running Club will begin its racing season on Sunday 04 May with the Physical Rehab Spring Opener 5 km Race at Tipping’s Pond in Massey Drive, a timed event over an Athletics Canada certified course. There are also untimed children’s fun runs of 2.5 km and 1 km.  The adult race is a timed event with a chance for all entrants to win a draw prize after the event. 

 

Advance registration is $10.00.  Running Club membership, available at registration, is required and is $10.00 for a year’s membership or $5.00 for a day (single event) membership.   Registration on the day of the event is $15.00 plus club membership.  The adult race starts at 11:00 a.m.  The time for the kids’ runs will be announced later.

The 2014 CBRC Running Events Calendar now available. In particular, we are excited about a new set of events scheduled for October 5th: a 10 km, a Half-Marathon and a FULL MARATHON. It may seem a long way away but now’s the time to start to plan your training. Additional details on our 2014 events will follow in due course.

The CBRC AGM is scheduled for Sunday, January 19th at 7:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Inn. All local runners are encouraged to attend. Board/Executive members will be elected and we urge any interested individuals to consider serving in this capacity.


Island Orthotics Christmas Run: Sat. Dec. 21

The Corner Brook Running Club’s Annual Christmas Run has a new sponsor, Island Orthotics. This year’s untimed fun  run will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday 21 December, and you are asked to register/sign up at 12:30. Please note that this year we’ll start and finish at Island Orthotics, located upstairs in the Goodhouse Building on West Street, directly above Shoppers. Refreshments will be provided at the end of the run. Santa hats and jingle bells are optional (but encouraged).
 
Route is as follows: Depart Island Orthotics at 1:00 pm and head down West St. Turn left on the street lights that intersect West St. and Main St. Turn left up Mt. Bernard and then left again at the O’Connell Drive intersection (looping down by the park). Turn left on West Valley Rd. and proceed back to Island Orthotics for refreshments.

Run to Remember 11K: 11/11/13

“For those who gave everything they had, and ever would have”.

In observance of Remembrance Day The Corner Brook Running Club will host an 11 kilometer run on November 11 to honor those who made the supreme sacrifice and in grateful recognition of Canada’s veterans. We invite everyone to join us in this non-competitive run of reflection and remembrance. A 5K course will also be set for those who prefer to walk rather than run.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to help with traffic control, aid stations, etc. If you’re able to volunteer please send us an email.

Registration will take place at Corner Brook City Hall from 12:15 until 12:50. No registration fee. Run starts at 1:00 p.m. Runners are asked to wear a poppy if possible. Traffic Marshal’s may not be available so runners should be alert to road traffic, especially at intersections. Refreshments will be served at City Hall after the run. Note that this is an untimed event. Please also note that all support on the course will end at 2:20 p.m. Please direct any questions to Michael Coyne.

The run will start on Main Street near City Hall, out Riverside Drive, a short spur in toward Port Authority (outbound only), continue to turnaround at turnoff to North Shore. Return to City Hall. Walkers will proceed directly to turnaround point opposite Humbermouth train station.

Campus Dash: Oct. 23, 2013

The annual Grenfell Campus Dash will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 (Rain or Shine). Registration will take place from 3:30 – 4:00 p.m. in the GCSU Food Court. ALL participants are required to check in at registration to confirm their attendance.

Dash Start Time: 4:00 p.m. The route will be 2km for runners and 1km for walkers. No registration fee. Prizes for the top three male/female finishers as well as draw prizes.

This event is part of the “I Love Grenfell” celebration being held the week of October 23-27.
