DTD Corporate Challenge: How it Works

June 22, 2015

Downtown Dash Corporate Challenge – How it Works: A corporate team must have a minimum of 3 members but there is no maximum number. There will be 3 team categories: Men’s, Women’s and Mixed. A team may be made up of employees and members of their immediate families, but least 50% of the team must be employees. When registering for the BMO Downtown Dash each member will indicate his/her Corporate team and category. Each team member will pay the standard individual $10.00 fee for registration ($5 for CBRC members). Points are given for both participation and performance.

Points are awarded in reverse finish order and then added up for all team members. Lets just say there are 125 finishers. Team A has five runners that finish 10th, 15th, 25th 30th and 50. The total points would be 116 + 111 + 101 + 96 + 76 = 500. Team B has ten runners who finish 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110. Total points would be 106 + 96 + 86 + 76 + 66 + 56+ 46+36+26+16 = 610. Team B wins. So, the more members the better, and if you have a couple of speedsters you may get an edge. But the final point tally tells all! The winning teams will be awarded the coveted BMO Corporate Challenge Plaque for display in their place of business. They’ll need to challenge again next year to keep it!

Downtown Dash Info

June 21, 2015

The 2015 Downtown Dash will be held on Thursday 16 July from 6:00 pm onwards.  Registration will open soon.  Because of construction work on Park Street and two-way traffic on part of West Street we will not be able to run our usual course around Park Street and West Street.  As soon as we have this year’s course plotted and measured we’ll let you know. Thank you for your patience.

The Corner Brook Running Club is pleased to announce that the annual National Shoe Trail Run will take place on Saturday 20 June. There is a new start/finish area for the race this year. The route starts and finishes on Griffin Drive at the start of the trail near the Lewin Parkway and involves a mixture of trail and road running. Also, the race route has been changed a little and will now measure exactly 10K. Online registration for this timed event is now open via the link below. Entry fee is $10.00 for members of the CBRC. Non-members have the option for a season membership for an additional $10.00 or a day membership for $5.00. There will be an un-timed kid’s run of 1km or 2.5km. The kids runs are free. There will be race-day registration until 9:30am at an extra cost of $5. We’d like to encourage everyone to register online ahead of time. This will save you $$ and make the race day experience better for runners and volunteers.
