My wife and I would like to participate in the Corner Brook Terry Fox Run on Sept. 18th. We live in Kingston ON Canada and will be celebrating my Aunt Ernestine Morey’s 100 Birthday in Corner Brook on Sept 17th. I have participated in the annual Terry Fox Run annually. Being in Newfoundland on the day of the run would be a dream come true. I have downloaded the map and we both plan to participate. Being seniors we’ll probably jog/run the route and will make a donation upon registering on the morning of the 18th. Lastly, we’ve collected the Terry Fox T-shirts each year and wonder if it would be possible for you to reserve two medium size shirts for us to purchase upon registration. It would be wonderful for both of us to have T-shirts signifying the run from Newfoundland. We very much look forward to participating.
Warm regards … William (Bill) Boyd 1035 Smale Court, Kingston ON K7P 2T9
Hello, do you guys have a group for older walkers/joggers?
Thanks!
Hello Claire,
Briefly, the answer is “No.” We don’t have any special groups within the club but if we did they would more likely be based on running ability rather than age. Joggers are welcome to participate in our events but we are a running club, not a walking club. if someone chose to walk an event we would not stop them but there is a time limit for each event e.g. we may set a minimum pace of 8 min/km for a 5 km race so that the course would be dismantled after 40 minutes. I believe there is still a hiking club in Corner Brook but I don’t know if that would be more suited to what you are looking for.
Finally, this year we did collaborate with the “Y” to run (no pun intended) a “Couch to 5K” for people wishing to prepare to run their first 5 km event.

how old do you have to be to join? and is there a fee? My son wants to join but he is 12 years old. Is there any groups for that age? if so, please can you let me know. Thanks.
Hello Sandra,
Thanks for your enquiry. A junior division is an area we have not yet addressed in terms of membership although we certainly encourage young runners to take part in some of our events. For several of our races we have some untimed “kids’” runs, usually 1 km or 2.5 km for which we do not charge a fee or request membership. Someone around 14 or 15 or older wishing to run the full distance event would be expected to pay the full race fee.
The NLAA, to which we are affiliated, has regulations regarding the distances of races young people are allowed to enter, e.g., your son would not be allowed to enter the half-marathon or, probably, our 15 km run.
I will take this to our executive and try to get back to you before the Spring Opener (5 km ) on 06 May. Thank you, and your son, for your interest in the CBRC.
Mervyn Dean,
Is there anywhere to drop off the membership application forms? And where do you meet to run? and how often ?
Hi Robin,
You can mail your membership application to the club. There should be an address on the form. Alternatively, the Club will be accepting membership forms on May 6th at our Spring Opener event. You can pay for your membership and your race fee at the same time (and you will still get the membership discount for the race). I hope this helps.
